Real bummer to awaken to sad news about Jimmy Buffett. 34 years out of Florida and it still hit hard after living there for 16 years. First saw him in 1970 playing at a bar on a pier in front of the public waterfront park in Coconut Grove. Had no idea who he was. Just liked the music. He was perfectly describing a world I knew as did most Floridians, a lifestyle and an attitude, yet he was just another transplant. A few years later when I moved to Florida from St. Croix USVI someone played an album of his and I realized exactly where and when I'd heard him before. His music came to be the soundtrack of the life of lots of Floridians of my generation.

Another absolutely perfect tropical day! Light breezes. Painted skies. Lots of humidity. But so far no rain here in el Centro of Zihuatanejo. Bay water has been reaching over 32°C. Outside the bay it remains over 30°C. No real rain in the forecast until Tuesday, but a tropical system is expected to form up close to the coast while onda tropical #25 passes by, so there could be some fun and games in the near future. Keep an eye on the local weather.

Even for an off-season weekend it seems slower than it should be. Barely any tourists around in downtown Zihuatanejo. But more locals are out strolling in the evening than previously. This is the time of year when we tend to see more of each other.

Far from noisy downtown Zihuatanejo is the tranquility of Barra de Potosí and Playa Potosí Resort. A small oceanfront vacation lodging offering four 1BR bungalows and a pool set amid the shade of coconut palms and located on the beach at Playa Blanca. Twenty minutes from the airport and easy walking distance to numerous restaurants, this place will have you smiling for no apparent reason while you stroll along the beach.

Not sure why, but Zihuateco seems to be a foil against Rob and a cheerleader for the mayor.

One of Rob's pet peeves is his assertion that the mayor has a tremendous conflict of interest with regard to the recent paving over of much of Playa Principal. Señor Zihuateco, do you deny this allegation? Is it or is it not true that the mayor is benefitting financially from this?

For what it is worth, Your Humble Fellow Zihua Lover was saddened to see the widening of the concrete along the beach. It is not something that would keep me from visiting again, but it is certainly unfortunate. All things change. Some things mutate.

If you are a resident or even a frequent visitor to Zihuatanejo, corruption does have an impact on you. Not bothering to confirm the situation also impacts you greatly as you have been making allegations about Rob's integrity and truthfulness. Personally, the only knowledge I have of the situation is what I have learned from this forum and asking probing questions to those locals I have met and made acquaintances with while visiting Zihua. It does appear that there is a serious conflict of interest with regard to the current mayor, sadly to the detriment of Zihuatanejo. Although Rob can be prickly at times, as far as I have been able to discern, I believe his integrity is unquestioned. I can not say the same for yours.

My wife has been a friend much longer than you to the same family and is much closer to them than you are as a non-citizen foreigner. Didn't stop the greedy little coward from stabbing his auntie in the back as retribution for my criticism, which in my view justifies my criticism all that much more.

I don't recall making the claim I was accused of, but I did provide the correct response to the person wanting "evidence of corruption".

Separate from the Principal beach paving, which seems a sore subject and one you hold passionately but don’t care to share evidence , I think Zozaya did a great job on the improvements around the basketball court, so I think some things are for the betterment of the community.

It’s amazing you fail to understand that two things can be true at once - Trump can be guilty of his alleged crimes and Biden, the IRS and the FBI can also be guilty of corruption and collusion. It’s not mutually exclusive. Regardless of what party controls the house, it’s great to hold branches of government accountable and their power in check - I fail to see how that’s a controversial or partisan position.

Hola. Great to see you paying tribute to Jimmy. I have been a parrothead for a long time. Even forced myself to cross the border and see his concert in Vegas. I am currently in a restaurant in Burnaby BC with my parrothead shirt on. When I go home it will be Buffet music on. RIP Jimmy. Have a blast in Margaretaville.
