Interesting Mexican news on the drug scene

It is a great first step. Anything that helps get us away from the "war on drugs" of the past 50 years is positive in my mind. Unfortunately they don't seem to have learned lessons about over regulation from those that have gone before (i.e. California and Canada) so Mexico will probably see little impact to the illicit trade from this particular bill in the short term. From what I have read the regulations are so stringent that it will be prohibitive for people to comply with them if they don't have significant resources to invest. Consequently the product on the legal market will probably still be too expensive to significantly impact the illicit market. We shall see though and hopefully I am wrong about that. One of the best parts is that it decriminalizes posesion for private use.
