Golden Gate Bridge

Thanks. I remember the old bridge from our first couple of trips and remember being surprised and a bit saddened when we returned and it was gone. Our first trip was actually to Ixtapa, to what is now the Tesoro. Our travel agent (remember them?) suggested we go there as it was half built at the time, so was very inexpensive. Following the instructions on how to take a bus which we found on Rob’s board at the time (I think it was on Compuserve) we crossed our fingers and rode over to Zihuatanejo and immediately fell in love. We had been to quite a few places “south of the border” before, but for the first time it actually felt like we were in Mexico. The love affair continues. Now that we are fully vaccinated, we’ll be back next month. We can’t wait.

Gee, that was back when I was learning my first HTML coding and using the free webspace from Geocities and called myself "Gator in Mexico".

Back when I lived here in '74, for 3 months we lived in El Almacén in the mostly open house that eventually became the discotheque at Puerto Mío. Everything we consumed had to be carried over that bridge. Huge blocks of ice. Garrafones of water. Tanks of cooking gas. I carried all of that and lots more over that rickety bridge without problem. Rain and shine. Day and night. At first my mother paid someone to carry a tank of gas, and when I saw the man she gave the money to order his scrawny son younger than me to carry it, I never again let her pay anyone to carry our stuff.
