Costa de La ZIHlla Grande

As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 2,213 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (3 more than yesterday), 182 that have resulted in fatalities, 25 that are currently active, and approximately 1,866 that have recovered.

There's been a steady stream of tourists past our downtown home today. First in one direction towards the pier and the beach, later in the opposite direction as they return from the beach. Then back into town for dining and drinking. Folks were dancing on the beach much of the afternoon, and I imagine they'll be dancing well into the night.

Free Covid-19 testing stations supplied daily with 50 tests that take about 20 minutes to get results have been set up in certain places such as the municipal pier. No idea how we'll ever know the results unless they are made public. I haven't seen or heard of any test results yet, and I kind of doubt we ever will. But maybe I'll be surprised.

The smoke was a little worse today than yesterday, and the temps were a little hotter. Hope the nice weather holds out for the vacationers. Waves have been big recently and are predicted to be even bigger yet tomorrow, so take care if you live on the waterfront or plan to go swimming. Expect some beach erosion and strong currents. Three tourists were rescued at Playa La Ropa yesterday after getting carried out by a riptide.

Dear friend Leonor Palacios poses in a whale of a chair set up at Playa Las Manzanillas on the Paseo del Pescador.
