Health authorities for Guerrero report 1 active case of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo.

Guerrero's Congreso voted to decriminalize abortion up to 12 weeks. State by state is ratifying the law as instructed by Mexico's Corte Suprema. (Still waiting for cannabis to get the same attention.) While the USA slides backwards into the darkness, Mexico is slowly making important strides forward. ¡Felicidades a todas las mujeres guerrerenses!

Next weekend is the XXXVIII Triatlón Internacional Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo in Ixtapa, and several main streets in Ixtapa will be closed from 5:30AM Saturday morning until 3:00PM in the afternoon. If you live there or want to watch the Triatlón plan your day accordingly.

It was definitely another hot day today. The mar de fondo is up pretty high again, too. The breeze has been helpful in staying comfortable, but tonight the cooling air is likely to bring all the smoke from today's huge fire on Cerro Viejo down into the urban areas of Zihuatanejo, so expect it to be a bit heavy tonight.

Some truly lovely local lodgings in the region are still available for the coming season.

So as we're out'n'about last evening I spy this on the horizon. Wait! Wasn't the Luna Roja the previous night during the eclipse? Well this sure caused a lot of gossip and confusion, but we actually see this quite frequently during the burning season.

So off to the pier we practically ran hoping for a better photo. However, my iPhone's camera just couldn't capture the colors correctly, so a friend at the pier shared her photo with me. Gracias a mi estimada amiga Karla Valle por esta foto.
