Yes, I know what happened. I watched it live. Africanized bees swarmed on a section of Calle Adelita and the road had to be blocked off. The Bomberos had to come get rid of them. These bees can kill people.

Be thankful if you've never stirred up Africanized bees. I had my first run-in with these "angry bees" about 50 years ago in the U.S. Virgin Islands tearing down an old house whose walls were filled with Africanized bees. They chased us for 2 or 3 blocks every time we roused them up. Then we'd have to wait for them to calm back down before trying to tear out more wall. Smoke seemed to only piss them off more. Took a lot of pot and Heineken to ease our woes afterwards. Never saw anything like them in the States. Since moving here I've always tried to keep an eye out for them. Never had a problem (toca madera).
