Guerrero's state health officials confirm 9 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 1 in Petatlán, 3 in Atoyac, 39 in Acapulco, and 128 in the entire state.

Mexico's federal government today announced THE END OF THE COVID-19 HEALTH EMERGENCY. They will no longer be providing reports, so I will no longer be posting them after today. Yay!

The heat wave continues with temps in the mid-30's Celsius, the humidity remains high, and the air continues getting smokier. Forecasts predict rain nearby later this week, but nothing convincing.

Remember that in Mexico May 10th is Día de las Madres, this is one of the biggest days of the year for buying flowers and eating out with any madres in the family. Spoil her rotten!

Also, don't forget that May 20th is the XXXIX Triatlón Internacional Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Over 1,800 athletes are signed up to participate. Let's hope the weather cooperates. This event is always good for our local economy, and we get some much-needed international publicity. See details on my Community Notices & Events page.

Although the ocean was calm this Tuesday, there were still some small waves, but another mar de fondo event is forecast to begin affecting our coasts with waves of up to 2.7 meters. Expect some beach erosion.

One of my favorite lodgings to recommend is Villas Los Arcos. A luxurious multilevel vacation villa with a pool located in the coconut grove at La Ropa just a few steps from the beach. They offer one-bedroom suites with A/C and a kitchen. Rent individual suites or the entire villa.
