CelebraZIHones en Petatlán
In case you haven't checked my Community Notices & Events page recently, perhaps you missed that from July 29 to August 13 they celebrate the Fiestas Patronales Padre Jesús de Petatlán, better known as Las Fiestas de Tata Chuy. A wonderful celebration with lots of local history. Whether you're a believer or not, it's a cultural event worth enjoying centered around their beloved church in the center of town, many of whose central streets will be closed to traffic for the next couple of weeks.
Saturday nights are always rough for sleeping downtown, and this one was even more so due to La Canícula. Besides the heat and humidity, much of the night we had to put up with the noise of loud bars and boombox cars that the local government has done nothing about during its 5 years in office even though it was a promise they made to Lupita and me. So not much sleep. A good fan is essential if you're like me and prefer sleeping with windows open to enjoy fresh air and the sound of the ocean.
