Today is the big day of the Iglesia Padre Jesús de Petatlán. A beautiful fiesta in honor of the founding of the church. This Sunday night is the burning of the castillo, a grand tradition. It's a huge carnival atmosphere that continues for another week. I highly recommend this cherished regional cultural festivity.

It looks like we're in for some days more representative of La Canícula than we've been seeing, at least for the next several days as the next onda tropical #20 is quite a ways off. Expect bright hot sunny days of high temperatures. Another mar de fondo event looks to be heading our way in 2 or 3 days.

Saturday night was one of the worst ever for trying to sleep downtown. A parade of boombox cars and later motorcycles roaring their engines prompted us to have to call the police whom we saw run off the motorcycles, who of course made another swing by our home an hour later roaring their engines again. Gonna have to set up a few buckets of water on my rooftop for the next time I hear them coming. Also the same offensive bar in front of the Cancha Municipal was allowed to blast music until 5:30 or so this morning. Amazing the mayor continues to allow this and yet dares to refer to Zihuatanejo as a Pueblo Mágico. I know of no other Pueblo Mágico where such noise is tolerated.

Our summer tourism seems to be mostly weekend warriors, not much different than the rest of the year. On social media you can see them looking for lodgings where they can pack 20 to a room. Most seeking los 3 Bs: Bueno, Bonito y Barato. This is NOT sustainable tourism. They are most certainly welcome to visit us here, but our elected officials need to stop pretending they're doing their jobs by attracting this tourism.

Centrally located on the small hill at La Madera a short walk to the beach is Casa Linda. A lovely house with 3 apartments that can be rented all together or individually, each beautifully decorated with Mexican handcrafts. All with full kitchens, living area, balconies, and shared access to a garden with BBQ facilities as well as the rooftop terrace with views of the bay.
