Guerrero's health officials published today the Covid-19 report from 4 days ago confirming 28 currently active cases in Zihuatanejo, 17 in Acapulco, and 102 in the entire state. We're #1! Oops.

Tourists who arrived by bus lined the waterfront at the crack of dawn this morning with their suitcases and coolers waiting for the water taxis to begin service to Playa Las Gatas. The port of Zihuatanejo was open for small vessels as was the pier at Playa Linda, though there was still a bit of wave action, but not too big. Unfortunately the waves also washed a body onto the beach at Playa La Madera around noon that as far as I know has yet to be identified or a cause of death determined. Bummer.

There were sea turtle tracks visible on Playa Principal this morning, but only one of the three sets I saw appeared to have deposited her eggs.

We're still feeling the effects of the outer bands of Huracán Hilary, but so far all we've received is a light rain this Friday evening.

Blue water is reported only about a mile offshore, and fishing should be good, especially with the trash lines from the storms providing hangouts for dorado. My friend Ramón Olea offers affordable sport fishing adventures, and he knows all the local fishing spots. His 24' covered panga, "Oleaje", doesn't offer much luxury, but his expertise in fishing and his local knowledge of our coast and its marine life is second to none! Ramón practices "catch and release" fishing.

Las olas subieron en las nuevas depresiones formadas por la lluvia drenando del Paseo del Pescador. Antes de la dizque remodelación por parte del ayuntamiento actual, estas canales nunca se formaron sino la lluvia fue absorbida mejor por el suelo.
