We awoke this Friday to a nice soft rain, just enough to bring the temperatures down and make for a refreshing morning, but it didn't rain hard enough not to enjoy being outside. Of course later when the sun came out so did the humidity, but small price to pay for being in this beautiful paradise. The mar de fondo wasn't all that big Friday. Five big waves maybe a meter and a half at the tallest, and then a good measure of calm. Beautiful. Calming. Moments that make you smile for no apparent reason.

Not hardly a tourist in sight all day. With the kids back in school downtown has been oddly quiet throughout the day, though the noisy bars and their patrons easily make up for it in the evenings. The mayor was boasting in the media this week about how we no longer have a slow season. Ridiculous!

September is Mes de la Patria. A month of national celebrations including Mexico's Día de la Independencia on the 16 de septiembre, with El Grito on the evening before. Now's a great time to come visit and enjoy some of our culture and its folklore.
