According to health officials for Guerrero in their latest report released today, as of 3 days ago there were NO confirmed currently active cases of Covid-19 in the entire state of Guerrero, and only 71 in the entire country.

Very sad news today for the family and friends of a visiting tourist who was killed by a shark at Playa Quieta. I'm already seeing people talking about canceling their vacations. So much fear could be assuaged somewhat if the municipal government made a public statement stating clear and concrete actions they will take to protect swimmers, but I'm not confident they know how to do that. It couldn't happen at a worse moment for our local tourism industry. Fortunately locals that DO know what they're doing are searching for sharks near the coast in order to try to identify them. The city's only boat apparently is only used for photo ops, but divers and fishermen know the signs to look for, and some have the right technology to at least keep an eye out locally. Earlier this afternoon there were still people swimming in Zihuatanejo's bay when I looked, in spite of the city's claim of closing the municipio's beaches. My wife Lupita says she's not scared and will take her daily swim in the bay tomorrow as usual just like she did today.

There was a nice breeze for much of the day. The day started off mostly cloudy, but the sun peeked out from time to time and made for quite a pleasant day weather-wise. The ocean water continues cooling little by little. Last night felt cooler than the 22°C reported, but maybe it was just my imagination... running away with me...
