Very sad for that tourist and his family. Have they determined it was a shark, not a croc? Has anyone heard how the woman taken to the hospital is doing now? And, I didn't see any closure of the beaches in Zihua yesterday. I'm swimming Friday regardless.

Our flamante mayor is who allegedly said the beaches were closed. My understanding is that State authorities called for the closing only of Playa Quieta. The mayor is apparently too busy playing with Christmas decorations, posing for photos and trying to pour as much of his cement on the public dole as quickly as he can to be distracted by attending to the media nightmare and public health risk this shark attack poses. He doesn't depend on tourism to earn his living.
