Lupita and I were very disappointed during our evening stroll to find the Muelle Municipal closed off for a PRIVATE event when it's supposed to be a public space, not a salón de fiestas.

Many of us who live and work here are very disappointed to see that the municipal government has no plan to deal with the shark attack. They're still in denial. No beaches were closed except Playa Quieta. No spotters were positioned at other beaches. Thank goodness the fishermen know what's going on, and they have no doubt what happened. They also have a good idea why. According to some of them, it's spawning time for sharks which normally brings them closer to shore, but there aren't the usual schools of anchovies present, so that may be causing them to go hungry.

Meanwhile, Lupita and dozens of vacationers went swimming today at Playa Principal without incident.

The day began cloudy, and there was a nice breeze during much of the day.

Vacationers have begun showing up as the holiday vacation period officially gets underway. Hopefully it will continue to get more crowded and folks won't be scared off by the poor response by our municipal government to the unfortunate shark attack. From what I saw today we should enjoy a decent holiday season. Hope the vacationers bring some money to spend.
