The incredible number of visitors in Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa continues extremely high. The downtown beach is crowded all day long and well into the night with people enjoying the beach. Everyone seems to be extremely content and enjoying themselves. Restaurants along the waterfront are doing a good business and appear to all be mostly full. Shops continue making decent sales. Locals are working extremely hard to attend to all the vacationers. While so many folks are on vacation, this is when many of us here work the hardest.

Watch out for phony 20 and 200 peso bills that have been found recently in circulation in Zihuatanejo.

It got CO-O-O-O-OLD last night in Zihuatanejo. Had to turn off the fan, pull the sheets up snuggle with my sweetie, and sleep with jammies on. Weather report says it got down to 19°C last Wednesday night. For Costeños of Guerrero (or anyone from the tropics) it felt like it could snow! The ocean water temp has dipped down to 28.9°C, which feels cool but still refreshing to us. The air temperature is supposed to be at least as cool if not cooler in the coming days. Many folks here don't have water heaters, so bathing must be timed to coincide with times when the water in our tinacos and tambos has the maximum warmth from the day's heat. Fortunately the skies have been mostly clear. But some folks will be skipping bathing due to the cold water.

Acapulqueños have been working hard to be able to receive tourism this holiday season, and though they've done a stellar job getting beaches and roadways cleaned up, reopening stores, shops and lodgings, it appears to us here that Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa continues receiving many people who normally would've vacationed in Acapulco. We certainly welcome all the visitors and we hope they enjoyed their visit.

Several officials from the Capitanía del Puerto finally showed up on the pier today. It was good to see them. We asked if they planned to make sure all the boats had functioning navigation lights correctly installed since we've noticed most don't and that some even have them backwards while operating after dark, one official tried to tell us they all have them, an obvious inaccuracy, but the rest said it's something they're working on. I hope my recent public comments on the matter have had a positive influence and that this essential navigational safety measure is a result of me speaking up, since no one else appears to have ever done so that I'm aware of.
