Taxi From Airport

You make this same suggestion every time this same question is asked over and over again. It's not worth it. It is illegal for them to wait for fares there.

I spoke with a Troncones taxi driver a few weeks ago who had taken a fare to the airport. They told me that after they left the airport grounds they were flagged down by people with suitcases and surfboards. He picked up the fare. Quickly he was pulled over (he didn’t say by whom). The driver was told he was not authorized to pick up arriving passengers. The passengers were required to leave the taxi and he was required to drive away. He didn’t know how they got a ride. Maybe TT sent a vehicle.

That driver won’t try to pick up near the airport again.

Given the plethora of taxis, the costs of vehicles, the price of gasoline, etc. it must be difficult for a driver to earn a living. I understand them being rigorous about protecting their turf.
