Early this Friday morning the faithful will have a procession in commemoration of the 7 Stations of the Cross. The procession begins at 8:00 at La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe on Cinco de Mayo and comes down Juan N. Álvarez street and on to the Iglesia El Ángelus at Plaza Kioto. Our corner by Plaza del Artista is one of the stations. This is an old tradition for the Zihuatanejo families who participate.
Thursday morning was back to normal for us. Pleasantly cool, but not too cold for locals as in previous days. But the ocean is still way too cold for locals, yet visitors were enjoying swimming at Playa Principal all day and into the early evening.
Speaking of visitors, there are a lot of them! Strolling the waterfront is a bit of a chore since so many people simply don't watch where they're walking. Lupita and I have learned to become the slipstream that flows between whirls and eddies of the human river that the waterfront becomes in the evenings when hundreds of people are returning from Las Gatas and others are out strolling and taking in the sights. The downtown beach was still packed this evening around 7:30. It appeared some planned to sleep on the beach in their tents, which is common at this time of year.
Much better than sleeping on the beach is staying at a beachfront vacation lodging like Kokopeli in Troncones. This is a 3BR vacation home with a pool and plenty of privacy located right on the beach within easy walking distance of the village as well as several stores and restaurants. Location, location, location!
