poemas para marionetas
During COVID I took up poetry as a hobby. I have locally purchased marionettes hanging from my balcony rafters. I wrote Shakespearean Sonnets about them. I used a Pinocchio theme: what would the puppets want to be if granted their wish. I also used Mexico as inspiration. All in iambic pentameter, taking a few liberties with the turn/volta. Here is Sonnet #1:
Esqueleto Blanco
Arms outstretched and its boney legs are bent
Esqueleto Blanco means unity
Stripped of race, neither lady nor a gent
The colour blanco is for purity
Bleached of war’s black, it is bereft of flesh
Esqueletos promise resurrection
Esqueleto links between life and death
She knew she would meet her connection
Be eternal
Be whole
Be fresh snow
And you will be a real resurrection
All skeletons are black at midnight, got it?
Even those ones still hiding in your closet
