Quite a few tourists showed up this weekend. I suspect we continue getting some of Acapulco's regulars since they are still rebuilding so many hotels and lodgings that were destroyed by Otis. There was also a young man doing acrobatics to dance music with a large hoop that he rolled around with whom we met in Plaza del Artista this Sunday evening who said he used to work in one of the hotels in Acapulco, so besides Acapulco's visitors we also seem to have quite a few of their workers who perform for tips along the waterfront. We try to be generous with them, and we hope you will be, too. Everyone we've met so far has seemed very nice, well-educated, and quite talented.

The mar de fondo continued producing some very large waves along our coast and in Zihuatanejo Bay, some of the largest I've ever seen in the bay that weren't from a tropical storm or hurricane. Fortunately they haven't done any damage along Playa Principal or the pier.

Hurricane season is only 3½ weeks away! Any day now the cool water, clear blue skies and moderate temps will disappear and be replaced by extreme heat and humidity, no winds, and possibly a lot of smoke. Building like a fever until that first good rainstorm. I wonder what day it will be. June 1st?

Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks for being right here in Zihuatanejo and having spent most of my life here beside my saint of a wife. Yes, I gave up some things most U.S. citizens couldn't dream of doing without, but they just never seemed as important to me as following my heart and being happy, and no other person has ever made me as happy as my incredible wife, Lupita. And the fact she feels the same way reinforces my belief that I made the right decision to marry her and remain here with her where she can continue living in the community she loves and grew up in. Taking her away from this place would've been like cutting a flower from its plant: it would only wither and die quicker. Lupita is like a flower that keeps on blooming! And she keeps me as happy as a man can be. She makes me the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.

[image]One of the nicest lodgings at Troncones that seems to have something for everyone is Casa de La Sirena. A luxurious private beachfront compound in Troncones featuring a 3-bedroom villa with a private pool, three 1-bedroom MiniVillas, and two side-by-side 2-story 1-bedroom bungalows that share a pool. Truly an oasis in paradise!

El mar de fondo sigue afectando la Costa Grande de Guerrero con sus olas masivas. Aún así, en la bahía de Zihuatanejo vi mucha gente nadando y jugando en las olas, e ignorando por completo la baja temperatura del mar.
