Local water temp is remaining above the 27°C mark, plenty warm for swimming and hurricanes. Plenty of locals and visitors were enjoying swimming at the downtown beach today. Enjoy it while it lasts. If the rains don't muddy up the bay soon, the dredging project at Laguna Las Salinas will certainly ruin the beaches soon enough, especially if a storm causes a breach in one of the containment areas for the sludge they remove.

Still no rain in our local forecast. Everyone is wondering when it will rain. Old-timers always say June 1st, Día de la Marina. It's been the day of first rain for many years, especially back when lots of locals had their huertas of fruit trees that they would water from the now dried up creek that used to run through town, including my wife's family who were known for their mangos. My wife and her two sisters are often lovingly referred to by locals as "Los Mangos de Don Fernando". Their former huerta is now known as Parque Los Mangos, though sadly not much is left of the beloved and formerly well tended mango trees, and the park has been invaded from all sides with constructions thanks to our careless local government.

Thank goodness the political campaigns are OVER! This coming Sunday most of us will vote early. Thousands of votes have been paid for, but will they be enough to perpetuate a dynasty? This will be interesting to see.

Be sure to spruce up the street side of your home. Apple Maps is driving around making Street View images to use with their map application. They've been here for at least a week so far.
