The 9th Marionette Sonnet

Appropriate for the post election. To recap, the sonnets are based on observations of puppets on my balcony, my knowledge of Mexican culture/history and the Pinocchio story.

Senor with a whip in a burlap suit
But before the Revolt of nineteen ten
To be a horseman - a noble pursuit
Our horseman’s wish is to ride once again

When he opened his eyes, what did he see
Horsemen as guerillas to battle a
Dictator for the land and liberty.
 
Be patient
Be passionate
Be persuasive
And you will have real horse sense
 
Saddle up leaders, giddy up come on
