Zihuatanejo officially got its first rain last night, and as I predicted, the lights went out... repeatedly. Very frustrating for those of us with electric clocks that have to be reset manually.

But we all awoke to a cleansed Zihuatanejo with the scent of wet earth. I never did smell petrichor, and that's odd. Usually it's very noticeable during our first rain. Expect more rain this Saturday night.

The bay suffered a bit from the rain, especially with the dredging going on in Laguna Las Salinas. I don't recommend swimming for at least a day after a rain, and especially while the nasty sludge from the lagoon is being stirred up and washing into the bay with the rain. As usual, the beach was covered with lots of plastic trash this morning in spite of all the cleaning of the canals. It's been this way in Zihuatanejo forever, and it's a damn shame our residents and visitors don't take better care to keep their trash from washing into the bay.

Quite a few weekend tourists showed up, and our little shop had quite a few sales. Can't complain. Hopefully our friends and neighbors also enjoyed some business from the weekenders.

They offer a luxurious Penthouse; 3 Master Suites with an ocean view, mini-pool and kitchenette; 8 Suites with kitchenettes; 5 Junior Suites with kitchenettes; and 5 Standard Rooms without kitchenettes. Relaxation guaranteed!

Después de una noche con lluvia, la primera de la temporada, los trabajadores de Servicios Públicos trabajan para limpiar la basura de las playas, mayormente plástico y materia orgánica. Estamos muy agradecidos por sus labores. Lástima que sea necesario.
