I don't think Zihuatanejo can handle a lot more influx, especially in season. The roads and physical size don't lend themselves to expansion. I stay away from restaurants in el centro because there is too much traffic and nowhere to park. It reminds me of Yogi Berra's saying that it's so crowded, nobody goes there anymore. Then again, fewer high dollar spenders isn't what Zihua was all about either. The Palma Real golf course is trying that strategy. They've doubled the rates and get maybe half the play.

Now we see more people we know dining in La Puerta. I don't remember that happening five years ago. Is that good or bad? Probably good for the restaurant owners, but maybe bad for the locals who then go somewhere else.

Mallorca is a crazy money machine for Spain. Tons of Brits and Germans. The airport is one of the busiest in Europe. Last month, Palma averaged 370 flights per day, more than 12,000 passengers per hour in peak periods. I was there a few years ago and remember 100 euros each for lunch. Who knows what it would cost today.
