When is IVA Included in a Price
In the fideicomiso thread below there is discussion about whether IVA is included in the fideicomiso fee or added to it. This got me to thinking about when IVA is included and when it is not included.
I am contemplating buying a new (i.e., not used) vehicle in Mexico. I have been under the impression that when a price is advertised in Mexico it is the final price, everything included. I am realizing I might be in for a surprise.
Buying a car in Canada can be a frustrating experience of nickel-and-dimeing, but the numbers are much bigger than a few cents.
C$75,000 car? Add “delivery and dealer prep charges, air conditioning charge, tire disposable fee, 5% federal GST (IVA), 7% provincial sales tax, maybe a luxury tax. Who knows what else. That $75,000 car becomes an illusion.
If I see a new car on a car company’s website, is the advertised price the final price? Or is that just the beginning?
If IVA isn't included, it needs to be specified. We usually write it as "+ IVA".
