Our beaches filled up with tourists this Saturday. It was a perfect beach day with hardly a cloud to be seen until around sunset. Barely a breeze most of the day. Just a lot of warmth and humidity. It rained in Petatlán this Saturday evening, but so far not a drop in Zihuatanejo. Crowds were still returning from Las Gatas well past sundown, and the Paseo del Pescador was full of smiling happy faces with the scent of the beach upon them.

It didn't appear that many of the tourists were making purchases or eating at local restaurants here in town today, much to the chagrin of local merchants. They seem to have brought with them most of what they need, except they can never seem to carry enough beer. :vacation:

Police and the military in Técpan were still making arrests and finding bodies today. The good news is that apart from the truck driver, it appears no locals were hurt. We are extremely grateful to have the presence of the military and our Guardia Nacional here at the Cancha Municipal and along the waterfront. Very reassuring for us, and frankly what we've long been clamoring for.

However, this is still the low season, and there are still plenty of ne'er-do-wells around here in our area. So always be aware of your surroundings, leave the gaudy baubles at home, lock your doors and windows, walk in groups if you can, and don't be out too late at night.

Bocote trees are starting to bloom on our hillsides. Soon the hillsides should be almost white with their flowers, though we keep losing more and more of our beautiful trees each year to new roads, homes and condo projects.

We have to get our grave sites cleaned up and buy flowers this coming week to go spend the Día de Muertos with our beloved departed family members. Same as most old family locals. It's not exactly a festive occasion for us, but we put on our best face for our visitors.

[image]If you're looking for a truly relaxing B&B lodging overlooking the jungle in La Ropa, I highly recommend Casa Arcoíris. The view of the sunset over the treetops from their pool is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet will relieve you of any stress. Five comfortable suites with air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi access at this LGBTQ-friendly lodging make it somewhat exclusive and definitely enchanting. Mention ZihuaRob's and get a discount.
