Tuesday we awoke to another cloudless morning in Zihuatanejo. Some large waves were rolling in from a mar de fondo effect, but fortunately it didn't appear to be causing any beach erosion. The waves seemed to calm down by the time beachgoers arrived.

Altars for Día de Muertos are being erected along the downtown waterfront. There are several at the pier along with a deceased mermaid by the ZIHUA letters. Looks pretty cool! Some folks were taking selfies there when we strolled by this evening, but there aren't many visitors around at the moment. The decorations look nice, but I've never been a fan of twinkling lights in the trees along the waterfront.

Although rain clouds are still visible each afternoon over the sierra and Petatlán, we'll be lucky to see any more rain this year. And we didn't get very much rain this season. I wonder where we're going to get water for all the new homes, lodgings and condos that have sprouted up along much of our coast and hillsides?

Mexico's security forces continue deploying along the Costa Grande, yet there were new incidences of violence in Petatlán, Técpan and Atoyac today. I still don't recommend driving south past Papanoa. And traffic continues to be quite backed up from the provisional bridges where Hurricane John washed out the road and a couple of bridges.

Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa, Barra de Potosí and Troncones continue to seem like an oasis in a world gone mad. Maybe I'm just simple, but there is no place else I would rather be. Every single day I feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.

Truly one of the loveliest vacation lodgings at La Ropa in one of the most peaceful areas of our community is Villa Zanzibar, tucked away in the old original La Ropa community at the southern end of the beach a short easy walk uphill from the end of the beach.
