This Tuesday was a beautiful warm and humid day. This morning and afternoon there was a nice light breeze, and storm clouds were visible to our east near the sierra of Petatlán, but they never seemed to get any closer, and our local sky remains quite clear. A tropical disturbance continues to dance around off our coast, just out of range of giving us any rain, but it'll probably give the surfers some nice waves to play in. Some forecasts show a high percentage of rain while others don't. Most forecasts show varying degrees of possibility of rain for the next week. I keep holding out hope.

This Tuesday was Día del Cartero in Mexico. We are extremely grateful for the work our carteros do. Has anyone else been here long enough to remember Javierón? I first met him back in 1974 when the Oficina de Correos was at the Palacio Federal, now the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande. He was a very tall and large man who rode around delivering mail on a bicycle back then, and he was one of the most likeable and helpful people I've ever met. An icon of Zihuatanejo. He was still working at Correos when I returned in '89, though he passed away a few years later. All the older families here will remember him with fondness.
