More clear skies greeted Zihuatanejenses this Friday morning. The downtown beach filled up quickly except the part FENCED OFF for beach soccer. Apparently they confused beach soccer with full-contact cage-fighting matches. ¡Oye, ayuntamiento, no es fútbol playero si juegan dentro de una jaula y se lastiman cruzando los límites del campo! ¿Qué diablos están pensando? The setup looks like it was designed by someone who doesn't actually play beach soccer.
This Friday was a beautiful day even though it was hazy and hot. There was a nice breeze for much of the day, visitors were shopping at local stores and posing for photos and smiling a lot. The kind of day when it's a pleasure to just sit back and watch a happy world.
People were still returning from Playa Las Gatas after dark just as the moon began to rise and peek out from behind the clouds that rolled in this evening. Some restaurants were doing a decent business, but none were full along the waterfront. Many visitors seemed to be anxious to get back to their buses, from the conversations we heard at the pier. But hey, at least they got to enjoy a day at the beach.
And the influx of Canadians continues. Several of my clients who offer lodgings comment that there appear to be more Canadians than Gringos at the moment. Canadians always seem to arrive first and leave last. And we're certainly grateful to have them here.
No sign of the mar de fondo event that was predicted to arrive and affect the coast of Mexico from Chiapas to Baja California. The ocean was as calm today as it gets with tiny little waves. Maybe the bigger waves are running late.
Be sure to visit the Eco-Tianguis Sanka this Saturday morning from 9 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. There are always good and interesting things to see, hear, taste and try. These folks really put together a wonderful market of quality goods.
One of the nicer more affordable vacation rentals in La Madera neighborhood is Casa Linda located atop the small hill at La Madera with views of the bay and town. Three apartments that can be rented all together or individually, each beautifully decorated with Mexican handcrafts. One with two en-suite bedrooms and two with one bedroom each as well as a sofa or pull out bed. All with full kitchens, living area, balconies, and shared access to a garden with BBQ facilities as well as the rooftop terrace.

Una superluna sube sobre la bahía de Zihuatanejo al anochecer. Se puede ver los árboles bocotes con sus aromáticas flores blancos en el Cerro Darío Galeana.
