Thursday evening Mexico received the sad news that one of its favorite actresses from Mexico's Época Dorada has passed on, Silvia Pinal. She was one of the greats, more versatile and talented than most. Think Liz Taylor, Natalie Wood and Judy Garland in one. She worked in the screen, theater and TV, and was successful in all. She was much loved by Mexicans, and she will be missed.

Deborah's Restaurant served up a superbly delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. We can't thank Deborah enough for the effort she puts into her special dinners. Lupita and I both opted for the salad instead of the cream of pumpkin soup, though from previous experience the soup was extremely tempting. Our large plates were heaped high with dark and light meat, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, real homemade cranberry sauce, not the canned stuff I've eaten most of my life, and everything was generously doused with gravy. The gravy was indescribably delicious, and it made eating everything too easy. I managed to clean my plate and eat my dessert, pumpkin pie topped with homemade whipped cream, but Lupita asked to have dessert boxed to take home. Even then, we were so full that after getting back home we had to waddle down to the pier and pack just to get the bulge in our stomachs down to a manageable condition. Ufff! What a delicious evening!

The special "Sembrando Vida" market at Plaza del Artista this Friday evening was a huge success. Though it had been poorly announced, local word of mouth quickly spread, and neighbors, locals, and visitors kept the plaza packed all night. Fresh produce of all kinds, homemade sweets and treats, coffee, mezcal, handcrafts, all kinds of tempting goodies. I hope they do this more often. If you missed it, some of the same products will be available this Saturday morning from 9 to 1:30 at the Eco-Tianguis Sanka in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande.

The Danzón dancers moved to the beach side just outside of the plaza to dance tonight. Earlier I'd thought they hadn't shown up. My bad.

The ocean should start cooling down soon. It's been hovering around 29°C in Zihuatanejo Bay. The waves from the recent mar de fondo effect have tapered off.
