I'm saddened to report that Helmut Leins who founded the Villa del Sol passed on today. I don't know any other details. My mother worked with him for quite a few years. You can see a video tribute to him from about 10 years ago here: https://vimeo.com/83682552

Saturday morning in downtown Zihuatanejo smelled like freshly ground coffee at our place. Café Caracol is our neighbor, and we enjoy some of the best coffee in the region. The place has its regulars who show up almost every day and gossip about everything under the sun and then some. They're a hoot to listen to.

Quite a few visitors were in town again today. Many went to Playa Las Gatas while others enjoyed the downtown beach and our local restaurants. Some local shops enjoyed good sales today, while others were still selling their wares well into the evening to the folks returning from Las Gatas and others milling about on the waterfront and the downtown streets.

We enjoyed watching the procession of Guadalupanos arrive via one of the larger pangas from Las Gatas with a mariachi group. They walked singing from the pier to Calle Cuauhtémoc then to the Iglesia de Guadalupe. One of the lovelier more traditional processions and without any exploding skyrockets. A few other processions this evening apparently didn't get the memo.
