This Monday morning started off a little cloudy, and they came and went for much of the day and into the evening where it almost looked like it might rain. But temperatures remained mild, and a nice little breeze during much of the day made our weather even better. The ocean water remains a warm 27.5-28°C. More perfection. But be aware that there are currently many stingrays in the area, and a tourist stepped on one and had to be taken by ambulance to the local hospital this past weekend. So REMEMBER TO SHUFFLE YOUR FEET WHEN WALKING IN THE OCEAN.

Very unfortunately, a local resident extranjera was attacked in her home in La Madera neighborhood around 5PM last Monday by a thief who entered through a window. She was able to fight off the attacker and scream, and all he got was a cellphone, but it's a reminder to always keep your doors and any accessible windows locked, and to stay aware of your surroundings. Our tourism season isn't going well, we're still suffering impoverishing effects from the pandemia, and foreigners are very visible targets. Our mayor doesn't take our public security seriously, and we're more or less all on our own here as we've always been, there's just more of us now, including more bums who think it's okay to steal from others. Let's try to watch out for each other as best we can.

I should also mention that the extremely poor treatment and human rights violations that migrants are currently suffering under the USA's Racist-in-Chief is adding to a growing animosity against anyone who looks like a Gringo. So far it's all heated words in social media, but all it takes is one hot-head to lose his or her cool, so be humble, keep a low profile, and if you're a MAGAt, be aware that most Mexicans don't want you here. The gleeful racist attitude on social media by some MAGAts regarding the treatment of migrants is generating worldwide animosity. I expect this to get worse before it gets better. How much worse depends on the Gringos and their government.

I'm certainly glad to be a Mexican citizen far away from the madness up north. Your mileage may vary.
