We agree. Visits to many remote places, Agua Azul for example, there was no one around, so we made sure our backpacks had nothing of value in them, strapped them all together and onto a tree root.

It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are not tempting anyone.

We quit leaving our home on Silver Strand Beach in California with the front door unlocked when one evening a DUDE walked in, asked where his friends were and decided to become belligerent. We had owned the place 5 years. Have not since left anything unsecured.

It is important anywhere to be aware and safe..
