The changes between busy and calm areas in Zihuatanejo fascinated me when I visited the place recently. You understand perfectly how quiet Zihuatanejo's mornings become since frigate birds create a peaceful atmosphere during their flight activities. During my visit I found the museum closed and I hope the establishment will soon reopen its doors to the public. The area of town needs to experience a revival to become active again.
I agree the museum should be open, but our area of downtown already gets quite lively, which you'll see if you read some of my earlier "ZIH" postings. We just had a very lively Fandango Cultural, and every Friday evening there's the very traditional Danzón dancing in Plaza del Artista, every Saturday morning the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" across the street from the museum, every Saturday evening an art show in Plaza del Artista, and every Sunday there's a large cultural event at La Cancha aka the basketball court.
When I was 14 I worked on a tour boat that took tourists snorkeling in the reef at the Buck Island National Park in St. Croix, USVI. While the larger 65' vessel took the tourists back to Christiansted Harbor to drop them off and pick up another boatload, I remained aboard a smaller 26' glass-bottom boat that we towed over with all the San Miguel beer I could drink. After cleaning the 6 large panes of glass for the next trip, I had some free time to enjoy, and when I wasn't swimming around visiting friends on other boats, I'd often just kick back and watch the frigates hover off the end of the island without flapping their wings for what seemed like an eternity. It was then that I really learned to appreciate their amazing flying skills.
