Today Mexico celebrates Día Internacional de las Lenguas Maternas. In Mexico, in addition to Spanish, 68 native languages are spoken. The 4 native languages you can commonly hear spoken in Guerrero are Náhuatl, Me'pjaa, Ñomndaa, and Tu'un Savi, with Náhuatl being the most widely spoken. This late afternoon and evening there was a celebration all along Paseo del Pescador to commemorate the day with music, dancers, arts and crafts. A shame the event wasn't better publicized beforehand.

A few busloads of tourists showed up this morning that I saw, but there many more extranjeros than Mexicans around today. The downtown beach was a popular place, and the beachfront restaurants were doing a good business as soon as they opened and well into the evening. Daniel's was again packed even though there was a bit of competition with the music from La Cancha Municipal. La Porteña was also packed even though there was a big dinner event going on at the pier, which once again caused locals and tourists trying to access or leave the pier to have to use the back walkway that's in terrible shape behind the office of the Capitanía del Puerto.

Rain clouds could be seen in the sierra to the north and eastward down the coast. I hope they got some rain. It was a picture-postcard-perfect day in our part of the Costa Grande, and our visitors were enjoying it. The water has been mostly calm and quite clear, still a very warm 27.4 to 27.7°C. Perfect for relaxing and swimming in. And people were out swimming before sunrise again, though it isn't something I recommend since that's the time when things with big teeth are out feeding.

[image]Paradise may have once been lost, but when you arrive at this lodging you'll know you've truly found it. Casa Escondida offers a 2-bedroom home, a 2-bedroom apartment, and two 1-bedroom bungalows all designed in local tropical styles. This incredible property is located on Troncones Beach a short walk from the village. Features a pool, ceiling fans and hammocks on the porches. Rent the entire property or in parts.
