USA needs cheap oil it blows through 20 million barrels a day china 15 million barrels https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=709 oil/energy an important element to the production and movement of goods https://www.worldometers.info/oil/
planet oil a great documentary https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p048dpqp episode 2 how to overthrow government (eg https://foreignpolicy.com/2017/06/20/64-years-later-cia-finally-releases-details-of-iranian-coup-iran-tehran-oil/ )

Anyone remember Bush standing in front of made in america? https://www.c-span.org/clip/white-house-event/user-clip-bush-shopping-quote/4552776 https://thereitis.org/bush-pr-team-covers-china-stamp-with-made-in-usa/ etc.. https://www.c-span.org/clip/call-in/user-clip-addicted-to-oil/4484705

An interesting correlation is oil and debt - https://advisor.visualcapitalist.com/historical-oil-prices/ https://www.statista.com/chart/1505/americas-debt-ceiling-dilemma/

As oil is more difficult to get at now - need to pump it out with polymers, boil it with water, go way out at sea, and dig deeper for it - all which costs money.
Oil up inflation up interest rates up to cool inflation housing dies (a huge driver of GDP what is even made in america anymore?) can't print/borrow money due to inflationary factors can't sell bonds (inverse proportion to interest rates).

GDP=C+I+G+(X-m) real X grows an economy all else is debt really and debt without real ROI/value is merely bad debt cash in the empties for the bar tab created? Sustainable to keep dumping money into I and G to spur C (Housing)?
So, what we have now is a lotta government spending (big government) and big giant corporations (eg https://www.ft.com/content/36f838c0-53c5-11ea-a1ef-da1721a0541e ) plus big media giants owned by who?
Will they be able to get GDP to rise? stocks to rise? get at cheap oil to keep inflation down? print/borrow money and sell more bonds etc...
How will they keep the keep the economy going? smoke and mirrors black magic shows? ( ref where money comes from https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE88E9ICdiphYjJkeeLL2O09eJoC8r7Dc )

who knows as the money shifts from government spending to private sector, will we just have more corporate bailouts and handouts now? corporate socialism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatocracy (I used to work for https://www.investopedia.com/terms/w/worldcom.asp during the Dot con era https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/dotcon/ https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/wallstreet/ the stuff I saw as they hung government over a ledge using media might, good powerful lawyers and lobby groups - incredible. Big defense does that as well used to work for lockheed etc..).
Delicate balance it all is I suspect. Who's paying the bar tab?

Nature vs nurture who knows, this thing we call an economy is it really tied to anything now a days, where is the finite limits - oil/energy or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_boundaries

planet doesn't give a damn what we do it will protect itself.

Simple is smart small is good again we need perhaps? who knows... time will tell.

I have an admittedly short attention span, so my opinion may be disregarded, but you win the prize for the most irritating posts. Although your style is different, the irritation level reminds me of a long-ago poster who, at one time, called himself "Average Joe."
