Se Acercan las VacaZIHones
We enjoyed another exceptional day of absolutely picture-postcard-perfect weather in Zihuatanejo this Monday. The morning was again cool but warmed up quickly. There was a nice breeze for much of the day, and it was quite humid and cloudy in the morning, like it wanted to rain, though the clouds moved up into the sierra. A great day for the beach and to be out'n'about. But hardly a tourist around to enjoy it.
The surf is expected to pick back up in the next several days, so surfers have that to look forward to.
There were very few folks at the downtown beach during the day or along the waterfront during the evening with the exception of the book fair where you could tell a local politician was present by the dozens of police, military and Guardia Nacional in the area. A shame that even though the citizens of Zihuatanejo complain year after year about the need for better public security, only the politicians receive it.
The Semana Santa vacation period gets underway this weekend, and we're expecting large crowds. Hope they behave themselves. I recommend doing any banking chores before Friday.
Tucked away amid the palm trees of La Ropa in Zihuatanejo within easy walking distance of the beach is Arecas Suites. A small affordable and comfortable hotel located in "the grove" near the beach. Features 8 air-conditioned suites with kitchenettes, a pool and plenty of tranquility.
