We are fortunate to have enjoyed absolutely beautiful weather for this Viernes Santo, a very emotional day for Mexico's Catholics. If you didn't watch the 182nd recreation of the Viacrucis in Ixtapalapa today on TV, you can find clips of this year's event on Youtube.

11 years ago today we had a 7.2 earthquake that scared the bejeezus out of all of us. It's SOOOO good to still be here! But it's something I doubt any of us here will ever forget.

The mar de fondo will be revisiting us again beginning this evening along the coast from Chiapas to Sinaloa with waves ranging from 2 to 3 meters. At least our vacationers got to enjoy at least one absolutely perfect swimming day today with calm and clear waters. The breeze picked up and is expected to continue. So the ocean may not be as pretty for the next few days as it was today.

Momma whale and her baby remain in the bay! So my captain friend apparently saw a different whale, which means at least there are still some in the region in case momma is seeking company to make the trip home with.

I witnessed an extremely cruel, unprofessional and traumatizing capture of a sort of street dog that belonged to some neighbors. A black dog that was sleeping with two others across the street from López Impresores. Some idiots from Ecología lassoed it, then stuck a noose around its neck. Of course the first thing that happened when the lassoed it was the other two dogs ran into the street where they almost got run over. The city government does not know what it's doing, nor do they have competent people doing it. They will simply kill the dog. They did not release it to the owners. Whatever rule they were following is not one that's been announced to the public nor is it uniformly applied. PLEASE never call city authorities for anything having to do with animals. All they do is traumatize and kill them.
