Celebrando Las MamaZIHtas
Another beautiful morning, though not as cool as in previous weeks. The water is warming, our season is changing, and it seems to get hotter earlier as the days grow longer. So we find ourselves getting up earlier and trying to get chores done in time to beat the heat. The breeze is lighter than it's been, though it's still present in our part of the bay most of the day. We're getting close to the first rain of the season. Any day now. Could it be today?
Downtown merchants and local tour guides enjoyed receiving passengers from the cruise ship Europe 2 that anchored in Zihuatanejo's bay this morning around 7:00 A.M. W're not getting many cruise ships, so each one is important to us. Beginning July 1st all cruise ship passengers will have to pay a US$5 to enter Mexico, which will eventually be raised to US$21 over the next 3 years. It will be interesting to see how the fee affects tourism and what the money will be used for.
Cruise Ship Arrivals
This Saturday is Día de las Madres here in Mexico, so expect crowds of families everywhere treating dear old mamá to a day at the beach and the local restaurants. There will also be some big fiestas around town, and even some more the following Saturday.
Don't miss the Eco-Tianguis Sanka this Saturday from 8:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school across from the museum. Come enjoy arts, crafts, good food and drinks, music, educational talks, and lots of good vibes and wonderful people.
