¡Feliz Día de los Maestros!

This Thursday is the first official day of the 2026 Pacific Hurricane Season, and right on cue some of the weather forecasts start showing possibilities of rain. It was cloudy this morning, and it's cloudy again this evening, and it looks like we could get some precipitation tonight and tomorrow. We sure could use it. Keeping fingers crossed.

The mar de fondo that was predicted seems to be mostly a no-show, though a fisherman friend told me that it was a bit rough last night outside the bay with choppy seas, but that's a different story. Inside the bay it remained relatively calm most of the day. The few beachgoers at the downtown were enjoying themselves, though it was quite warm and humid. The breeze came and went, but it felt good if you just came out of the water.

Not many people out along the waterfront this evening. A few restaurants were doing some business, but all in all it's a fairly tame Thursday evening except where the TVs are tuned in to the Mexican fútbol league playoffs. ;-)

This Saturday is the XXXIX Triatlón Internacional Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. The boulevard and road to Playa Linda in Ixtapa will be closed from 7:00 A.M. until the events are over, though if you want to go see it you can usually get in through the neighborhood streets either through the road by Casa Bonita or the first part of Paseo de Los Viveros. The taxi drivers and cops will know the way, so just ask if you aren't sure. It should be a lot of fun! Deborah's Restaurant is an excellent place to watch from.
