Predicted rain continue to sidestep Zihuatanejo, but we currently have plenty of heat and humidity. It was stifling today even with a strong breeze. Visitors on the beach were chugging down liquids.

The former mayor's concrete along the waterfront only adds to the misery of the people suffering from the heat. Even after the sun sets, it continues radiating heat well into the evening. I watched as a barefoot woman who appeared to be a visitor kept testing the difference between the concrete in the plaza and the bare ground, commenting to her boyfriend on the heat radiating from the paving stones even though it had been dark for hours. A shame the former mayor put his personal greed over the interests of the community to pour much more cement than the town needed, often in places where it wasn't needed at all. Extremely disappointing.

There's going to be another fishing tournament this weekend, La Calentona, sort of like the Torneo de Pez Vela but designed for the poorer fishermen. So things will be a bit rowdy at the pier, but it's all in good fun, except for the fish that get killed. We just don't seem to be able to move on to catch-and-release style fishing tournaments for unknown reasons. So once again expect an abundance of sailfish at local restaurants. It'll be interesting to see if any dorado are caught. It's that time of year.

The Eco-Tianguis Sanca will be in the small plaza across from the museum this Saturday from 8:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Come enjoy arts, crafts, good food and drinks (including quality mescal and locally grown coffee), music, educational talks, and lots of good vibes and wonderful people.

One of the nicest lodgings at Troncones that seems to have something for everyone is Casa de La Sirena.
