A fisherman from Zihuatanejo but currently living in Lázaro Cárdenas was rescued today around 37 nautical miles off the coast of Pichilinguillo by his fellow fishermen after being adrift at sea for 2 days. Oddly and for unknown reasons, the Armada de México never assisted in his search and rescue. Felicidades to his rescuers!

Apparently after 12% of the electorate turned out, yesterday's election of judges is being considered a success. It's certainly more voters than I would've expected, and I'm glad that so many people participated. Now let's see if there's any improvement in the administration of justice.

Congratulations to Cruz Azul for winning the Concacaf Champion's Cup against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Mexico City Sunday night. While I suspected the visiting team would be at a disadvantage because of the altitude, the 5-0 final score was quite unexpected. I believe many Mexicans felt a little bad for Vancouver fans, hoping for a more tightly competitive game, but at no time were they taunted or disrespected by Mexicans, and they certainly behaved very well, much to their credit. I hope their fans who came to watch them play made new friends here and enjoyed themselves. That's what sports are supposed to be about.

The waves from the ongoing mar de fondo event have been huge. They washed over the entire beach at several local beaches including La Madera, Playa Principal and El Palmar. Once again Playa Linda's pier was closed meaning so was Isla Ixtapa to most people unless they arrived by boat from elsewhere, but I don't believe the restaurants opened. Playa Las Gatas remained mostly unaffected.

Sunday night and during the wee hours of Monday morning thunderstorms danced along the horizon, yet not a drop of rain fell in downtown Zihuatanejo. ¡Seguimos sala'o! But rain remains in the forecast, and another system is developing off our coast.

[image]A place I really like to recommend, like an oasis in paradise, is Casa Tucanes. A beautiful vacation lodging located on the edge of La Ropa's coconut grove surrounded by lush gardens, a short walking distance to the beach. They offer three 1- and 2-bedroom villas, two 2-bedroom bungalows and two simple guest rooms. They also have a pool, they are pet friendly and wonderful hosts.

Olas del mar de fondo de la noche anterior alcanzaron hasta el Paseo del Pescador de Playa Principal en Zihuatanejo.
