Dark stuff - Playa la Ropa Questions.....

by ZihuaRob ⌂ @, Zihuatanejo, México, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, 08:22 (501 days ago) @ Pacific Princess

What has washed up on the south end of Playa :a Ropa?
I cant see what it is from the webcam.
Thanks

The sand has washed away to be replaced by stones and pebbles, and the buildings are now blocking what is Zona Federal where the public should be able to pass. Building codes here are... :loco:

* Will the beach and sand return as it was after the rainy season passes?
* Is there a plan to remove all the stones and pebbles by the local government?
* Was this caused by the construction of the road or parking built up this past year?
* Is there more stones and pebbles along the entire playa la Ropa?
* How do the business owners such as el Pirata and Rossy feel about this?

:(

The stones are part of our beaches in Zihuatanejo's bay. It's illegal to remove them or alter the beach, though some influential property owners at Playa Contramar who walled off most of the beach and poured in truckloads of sand to cover the pebbles appear to suffer no sanctions for breaking the law. They certainly weren't tackled by the local police or made to pay any fines like the Gringo who walked his old dog on Playa La Ropa the other day or other Gringos made to pay exorbitant fines by the current municipal government for dubious ecological violations.

The formation of the stones in front of Rossy's certainly appears related to the ecocidal alteration of the coastline by the municipal government last year with the multi-million-peso road to nowhere. I've never seen the beach at Rossy's covered by stones like this, only at La Gaviota, another restaurant that, like Rossy's, was unfortunately allowed to build in the Zona Federal at the water's edge.

The small, rounded stones are also part of the beaches at La Madera and Playa Principal.
