We awoke to a light rain this morning that disappeared by 8 o'clock. It was a beautiful day with mild temperatures, the sun even came out for a while. The downtown beach had a few folks, not as many as the previous day, but from what I could tell Las Gatas got fairly busy, and when the wind and rain started, the water taxis were racing trying to get folks back as quickly as they could. Not sure if they called it quits before returning everyone. They may have had no choice since the water in the bay got pretty choppy late this afternoon.

Twelve years ago we found ourselves in a similar situation as we currently face with hurricanes Ingrid from the Gulf of Mexico and Manuel from the Pacific colliding over Mexico and causing torrential rains that lasted several days and that caused immeasurable damage and a terrible loss of life. Today we have Barry in the Gulf of Mexico and Flossie in the Pacific. Acapulco has already been suffering from the wind and rain, and its effects are just starting to be felt in Zihuatanejo where it's been raining lightly off and on for the past hour or so and the winds have been gusting. The rain and wind are expected to intensify as Flossie becomes a hurricane off our coast later tonight. If you don't need to be on the road, you probably shouldn't be. Keep an eye on the weather if you are here.

Needless to say, there will be no cultural event at the Cancha Municipal tonight. Instead it's being held at La Casa de la Cultura.

Classes are suspended this Monday.

In spite of the light rain, we still took a stroll along the waterfront this evening. We were surprised at how many people were at several restaurants between the Cancha and the pier. More than most evenings. Good to see. I suspect some folks were celebrating the graduations of their children, a common event to celebrate at this time of the year. ¡Felicidades a todos los graduados!

[image]If you enjoy spectacular views and balmy breezes, you'll LOVE La Casa Roja on Cerro El Almacén with two comfortable suites. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms with a king-size and twin beds, full kitchen, private bath, and 2 terraces. The lower level also has 2 bedrooms with a king-size and twin beds, full kitchen, 2 baths, and a terrace. A peaceful place within easy walking distance of downtown and nearby restaurants.

Al amanecer se vio las huellas de una tortuga marina y el nido que puso en Playa Principal en Zihuatanejo.
