We awoke to find the cruise ship Oceania Insignia in Zihuatanejo's bay this Tuesday. Its passengers who came ashore had to run the gauntlet of politicians and other officials posing for photos before being able to enjoy their visit. Local downtown merchants enjoyed some sales today from the cruise ship's passengers and crew who weren't whisked away on buses for guided tours. Hopefully some of the passengers will return someday and stay a while longer.
The local temperatures remained mild today. The morning clouds burned off and it turned into quite a lovely day. Still no crowds to speak of, but visitors continue coming and going.
After the cruise ship left we got a light rain downtown that helped to cool things down and make the evening even more pleasant than it already was.
A mango licuado is ALWAYS a great way to start the morning! They always put a smile on my face, and Guerrero's mangos are exceptionally tasty! But mangos have been a bit scarce at the market recently. Luckily, there's plenty of mamey, another favorite for morning licuados.
Man oh man do I love our local fare. We are extremely fortunate here on the Costa Grande with our delicious fruits, fresh fish, and an abundance of mouth-watering recipes.
Speaking of mouth-watering recipes, one of the best reasons for visiting Ixtapa is to go to Deborah's Restaurant. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, everything we've ever eaten there has been prepared to perfection and the service has always been excellent. Deborah also makes some of the best desserts around, so save room when you go.
