El Encanto del PaZIHfico
The heat and humidity of La Canícula is setting in and the rains are becoming less frequent and less intense, unable to bring relief as the days get warmer. The ocean is also getting warmer after being cooled by last month's passing storms with their cloud cover. There was a hint of a sprinkle this Tuesday evening, but most people didn't even notice it. Rain was visible to the east, but at this time of year the clouds tend to rain themselves out over Petatlán before reaching us. Wonderful for Petatlán. Frustrating for us.
Another day with hardly any tourists visible in downtown Zihuatanejo even though parking is becoming more difficult, though some started coming out after sunset to stroll along the waterfront as we were returning home. A few at La Ropa today. More at Las Gatas. Most appeared to be at Playa Linda, and Isla Ixtapa appeared to be doing a good business, too. Still awaiting to see if the Morelia flights bring us visitors with the purchasing power we need.
After a day of calm seas, at least in Zihuatanejo's bay, the mar de fondo effect returned, tossing water up onto the small plaza by the fish gallows at the pier. I didn't see any officials from the Capitanía de Puerto overseeing operations at the pier. Something they should be doing, especially when the waves can make embarking and disembarking boats difficult.
Several of my lodging operator friends have commented that this year they don't expect many U.S. visitors. A shame that the few we continue receiving are made to feel unwelcome by our municipal government, whether it's treating them like criminals on the beaches or singling them out to apply extortionate fines that no one else seems to get hit with.
An excellent way to enjoy our coastal region is from the ocean with its majestic views of the mountains. For your adventure on our local waters, I highly recommend the services of Zihuatanejo Ixtapa Charters. They have vessels and tours for all occasions. Take your pick and enjoy an unforgettable day on the ocean in our paradise.

Desde su reciente remodelación cuando el gobierno municipal tumbó muchos de sus árboles en el Paseo de Pescador, hoy en día casi no se usa durante mucho del día debido a los fuertes rayos del sol y la falta de sombra.
