La FeliZIHdad por Doquier
We were awakened by leaf blowers around 6:30 this Friday morning. I knew immediately it meant that the mayor had organized an event for joggers. And as soon as I took my dog for a walk past the museum I saw a pretty lady jogging towards and she said "How are you, Rob Whitehead?" It was the mayor! I was so surprised I only barely got out a "Muy buenos días" and smiled as she gave me a fist bump and continued running towards the Cancha Municipal. I may not agree with her on political matters, but I strongly admire her as a person for her achievements and her spirit.
The morning was cloudy and humid. Any breeze was barely perceptible. Today seemed much warmer than the past couple of days. Nevertheless, the beaches filled up early with visiting families. Parking downtown has become almost impossible as folks arrive from the inland towns and cities to enjoy our beautiful beaches. I'm surprised the city hasn't built a multistory parking building downtown to help meet the demand. That would be a good use of someone's cement.
The waterfront was crowded this evening, and there was a free movie on the beach with over a hundred spectators. I believe they even ran out of popcorn. Everyone enjoys a free movie on the beach at sundown in Zihuatanejo, no? It added to the wonderful happy atmosphere that is Zihuatanejo during vacation season.
Remember, the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" happens every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande (that just celebrated its 32nd anniversary) in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. Besides wonderful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.

A favorite location for many visitors, Amor del Sol located overlooking Playa La Madera is an extremely comfortable and nicely appointed condominium that offers from 1 to 3 bedrooms (only pay for what you need!). The complex has a pool, but the ocean at La Madera is often calm enough for easy swimming.
