Our SkyAlert earthquake alarms sounded at 5:55 a.m. this Monday morning warning of a moderate quake nearby, so we scrambled out of bed, downstairs and out the front door. Didn't see any other neighbors or visitors. If it had been a serious quake, we would've been among the few survivors in our neighborhood.

It was a beautiful Monday morning of bright clear skies that continued throughout the day. A shame there were hardly any vacationers around to enjoy it. It appears most of our tourism is arriving by bus, so they make for good crowds of high numbers, what locals refer to as "cifras alegres", since the numbers may look good on paper but they don't reflect the reality of poor sales due to their low purchasing power.

The waves continue a bit high at 1.7 meters. They're expected to remain about 1.6 meters this Tuesday and slowly diminish later in the week. No mar de fondo event has been detected.

A huge thunderstorm is slowly moving up the coast from Acapulco. We could see the tops of its clouds lit up to the east at sunset. Hopefully we'll get some rain out of it.
