Climate Change

I think a lot of people aren't climate deniers but realize that it been very over sold by the progressives and that the cure is worst than the diseases.

How can the cure be worse than the disease? The cure is to move as quickly as possible from climate changing fossil fuels to renewable energy. I use no fossil fuel energy for my home in Canada. My home energy is renewable hydroelectric. I heat and cool my home by heat pump and the occasional use of electric furnace. My car runs on renewable hydroelectric electricity. My home in Mexico is solar powered. I put more electricity into the grid than I take out. I replaced my fossil fuel cooking with electric. My PHEV operates 90% on renewable energy.

Was some of this awkward? Yes. But it pales to the alternative of global warming, condemning our children and grandchildren to a worse planet and worse quality if life. I guess the exception is for those self-centred leaders and followers how care only about the next fiscal quarter, the next election, or their physical comforts during their short time alive.

Our climate has been changing for 5 billion years. Why the northern US was covered with a sheet of ice 10,000+ years ago and we have been warming ever since.

I guess we know you are not like a significant proportion of the climate change deniers and minimizers. They believe the Earth is only 10,000 years old because their infalible Bible tells them. Many of them say that we don’t have to do anything about climate change because that is not in the Bible and Jesus is coming back before there can be any serious consequences anyway.

The progressives now say that sea level rising by up to 2 feet over the next 100 years is a catastrophe but sea level was over 100 feet lower just 15,000 years ago.

Maybe. And maybe there weren’t millions of people living in the places that will be flooded. Millions of years ago the planet was much hotter than it is now. In fact, mammals could barely survive and dinosaurs were the major life forms.

If you don’t care about life on this planet global warming is nothing to think about.

If you care only about some form of life on this planet, global warming doesn’t matter.

If you care about the lives of our children, our grandchildren, and future generations, global warming ought to keep you awake at night thinking about what more you can do to stop it.

I hope that the voices of moderation will win out.

I hope sensible, science-informed voices will win out. When l hear the anti-science rhetoric in the most powerful country in the world and see the irrational decisions being made there so that some can hold power, I despair of that.
