Climate Change

Many of the responses to my comments were expected since a large number of users of this site have left of far-left leaning.

Many times worst-case climate predictions are played as likely or fact by the press or likes to liven up articles to attract eye-balls and by politicians who want to scare voters into voting for them. They tend to feed the climate dogma with many predictions turn out to be wrong:

Thomas Lovejoy, secretary for Environmental and external affairs for the Smithsonian in 1993 stressed the world has one remaining decade of opportunity to avoid calamity since this great environment struggle will be either won or lost in the 90s with the next century too late.

In 2006 Al Gore projected that unless drastic measures were implemented the planet will hit an irreversible "point of no return" by 2016 - Game over.

UN General Assembly president Maria Garces declared in 2019 an 11 year window to escape catastrophe.

Also in 2019 Joe Biden threw his support behind this projection: "Science tells us that how we act or fail to act in the next 12 years will determine the very livability of the planet.

This trend of over hyping the likely effects of global warming continues today especially during heat waves like we have now. Anyone who dares to utter moderating words are attacked as being deniers and implied to be stooges of special inters or imbeciles. This is no way to discuss issues but seems to be the state of discourse today. I seem to think his is the result of many getting stove-piped news feeds from the internet where unwanted articles or opinions are never provided.

Al Gore and all those other people you mention were right. We sailed right past that point of no return and now hurricanes go from TS to CAT 5 in ONE DAY, Bill. The heat wave in the USA and Europe this summer was a result of human-induced global warming. I've only been on this planet for the best part of 7 decades, but a brief perusal of hurricane history shows that we never even registered CAT 5 hurricanes before. Hell, I watched Hurricane Patricia, at that time the largest hurricane recorded at CAT 4, sail past the coast of Zihuatanejo right in front of us. Seeing is believing.

Apparently your very narrow conservative mindset believes everyone who thinks differently than you has been brainwashed by the media you watch and the politicians in your currently pathetic country. Welcome to PLANET EARTH, Bill. Over 8 BILLION people live here. Most have never heard of your news media or your politicians. But they believe what they see and experience. I believe what I've experienced and lived mostly in Florida, the Caribbean and here. The coral reefs I grew up guiding tourists through barely survive, many are dead and gone. They were teeming with life just a few years ago, now bleached from warming, destroyed by increasingly devastating hurricanes, and suffocated by Sargasso seaweed blooms the likes of which have never existed before. I lived the best part of two decades in the Caribbean and Florida and not once did anywhere I live suffer a direct hit from a hurricane. Not Florida. Not the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since I moved away, both places have been devastated REPEATEDLY. Global warming may have been a natural process at other times in history, but it has sped up like never before, and humans are the cause. It's no longer a theory, in spite of what you want to believe.

We've seen here ad nauseam your accusations that the rest of the world is wrong, leftist and brainwashed if they believe differently than you, and that only your conservative ilk and you are right, which is actually the polar opposite of reality, a simple projection of your own shortcomings. Start from there, Bill, and there might yet be hope for you. Otherwise your ethnocentric bias will continue to leave you socially handicapped and in an ever shrinking group of wrongheaded people.
