Got another light rain sometime during the night. High clouds this morning again gave us a prolonged refreshing morning. Even when the sun finally burned through, there was a nice balmy breeze at the beaches. The beaches were busy, especially Playa Linda, Playa Las Gatas and Isla Ixtapa. But still the sales at local shops and restaurants don't reflect the high visitor count touted by the local and state tourism authorities. We need our visitors to purchase our goods and services, otherwise, what's the point? Unfortunately the so-called "authorities" appear to be no such thing, and they continue trying to fool each other and the easily gullible with their cifras alegres. But local merchants aren't fooled.

While local sales remain poor in general, it's still quite enjoyable to see so many families enjoying themselves. People from both small towns and big cities. Many who've never seen the ocean before. The smiles on children's faces are always heartwarming. The smiles on adult faces remind us that we're still doing something right, because happiness is what Zihuatanejo is all about. Now if we could just get more people working on targeting more affluent visitors. And it would be nice if the local government worked on getting the hotels in Ixtapa's Zona Hotelera I to offer packages other than Todo-Incluido.

Come enjoy the Orquesta de Zihuatanejo at the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande this coming Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Entrance is free!

[image]If you enjoy spectacular views and balmy breezes, you'll LOVE La Casa Roja on Cerro El Almacén with two comfortable suites. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms with a king-size and twin beds, full kitchen, private bath, and 2 terraces. The lower level also has 2 bedrooms with a king-size and twin beds, full kitchen, 2 baths, and a terrace. A peaceful place within easy walking distance of downtown and nearby restaurants.
